Job Description

• Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. 

• Work involves most of the following: Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such ass generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment; working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. 

• In general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

• Document results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records. 

• Troubleshoot and repairs systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics by using simple and complex test equipment. 

• Install, check, calibrate, and perform acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment. 

• Assist with the preparation of preventive maintenance logs, and other logs or reports as they pertain to the day-to-day operations. 

• Configure check-outs, operates, and monitors systems and equipment in support of operations.

• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 •  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Must have a minimum of three (3) years related experience.

• Navy apprenticeship graduate or equivalent training and experience as an electrician.

• Must have experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electronic controls. 

• Must be able to obtain First-Aid/CPR, Ladder Safety, Fall Protection .
