Duties:
The Assistant Treasurer is guided by and works closely with the SGA Supervisor, SGA Treasurer, Student Involvement, and the Business Office to oversee the SEPC budget allocation process and assists with all SGA financial matters. The SGA Assistant Treasurer will be an integral part of the SGA Cabinet and will be responsible for the ethical and equitable disbursement of the Student Activity Fee. The Assistant Treasurer can expect to work a maximum of 15 hours a week.
Eligibility Requirements:
Any full time Grinnell College student shall be eligible for any paid or unpaid SGA position, provided that they meet all of the following expectations at the time of assuming office and for the duration of their term of office:
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Must be in good conduct standing.
- Must be in attendance in person on the Grinnell College campus.
- Must not hold a leadership position with any other Grinnell College student-led entity.
Meeting requirements:
- Attend all Cabinet meetings every first and third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm when classes are in session and excluding finals, per the SGA Bylaws.
- Attend all Senate meetings every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 8:00 pm when classes are in session and excluding finals, per the SGA Bylaws.
- Attend professional development and training at 4:15 pm on Tuesday afternoons.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in representing the student body's interests on appointed college and student-led financial committees
- The Assistant Treasurer shall maintain comprehensive files of all SEPC financial records and report regularly on the financial status of the accounts.
- The Assistant Treasurer shall give financial reports to the Senate upon request
- The Assistant Treasurer shall meet with the Grinnell College Business Office for initial training to ensure that Grinnell College and SGA policies are being followed and for occasional check-in meetings to ensure that SGA spending is sustainable.
- The Assistant Treasurer shall work closely with the SGA Supervisor and Grinnell College Business Office to ensure that SGA funding guidelines align with college policies as well as state and federal laws.
- If the Business office finds the Assistant Treasurer to be violating Grinnell College or SGA policies or finds SGA spending to be unsustainable for the semester, such information must be reported to the SGA Supervisor.
- The Assistant Treasurer shall work closely with Grinnell College Office of Student Involvement to coordinate the disbursement of funds to registered student organizations and SEPCs.
- The Assistant Treasurer shall be a voting member of all SGA Financial Committees
- The Treasurer shall chair all SGA Financial Committees.
