THOR Solutions is actively seeking a mid-level ASW Weapons Analyst to support the U.S. Navy’s Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (SHAREM) program at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, CA. The SHAREM program assesses the readiness and effectiveness of sensors, systems, weapons, and countermeasures employed by individual and groups of platforms to meet specified objectives in tactically and operationally relevant environments. An ideal candidate will have a background in ship/submarine/aircraft operations and warfare tasks specifically including exercise weapons firings.
Typical Responsibilities:
Location: Full time onsite (no remote/hybrid) at Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) on Naval Base San Diego in San Diego, CA.
Travel Requirements: Up to 20% travel is anticipated to include CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches), speaking or vision.
Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $80,000 - 100,000/year. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.
Existing Security Clearance Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must already possess an active or interim security clearance. A candidate with especially strong, relevant experience but no active security clearance may still be considered, but work start would be dependent upon a new Secret clearance being awarded.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Typical Responsibilities:
- Coordinate objectives, plans, and logistics with external Navy operational staffs, Navy Warfare Centers, and range facilities.
- Develop test and data collection plans.
- Develop and deliver planning conference briefs.
- Draft naval messages.
- Observe and support at-sea firings of weapons in naval exercises.
- Extract weapon firing data from all available sources.
- Reconstruct weapon firing data to formulate accurate assessments of weapon performance, surface combatant, or air delivery attack proficiency, and surface combatant evasion tactics.
- Write after action reports and reconstruction and analysis reports that communicate exercise results with respect to discrete objectives, to representatives of naval commands, engineering labs, and program offices.
- Assist providing insight during ad hoc weapons meetings, workshops, and conferences.

- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least ten (10) years of U.S. Navy experience relating to ship/submarine/aircraft operations and warfare tasks specifically including:
- Staff coordination
- Joint exercise life cycle planning milestones
- Exercise planning
- Exercise weapons firings
- At least three (3) years of experience planning exercise activities on Navy training ranges.
- At least three (3) years of experience analyzing the results of Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) weapons firings.
- Capability for preparation of briefings, reports, and correspondence that are technically correct.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills
- Proficient with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication skills.
