Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:  Maintain a constant supply of clean linens for the hotel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform all stages of linen processing (i.e., sorting and weighing soiled and unsoiled linen, loading and unloading washers and dryers, folding, and storing linen).
  • Fold and store valet and laundry bags.
  • Clean laundry machinery.
  • Assist in laundry inventories.
  • Clean laundry area.
  • Keep work area neat and organized
  • Respond to guest requests.
  • Report all mechanical problems and hazardous conditions to the supervisor, manager, or Security Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

  •          Must be at least 18 years of age.
  •          Ability to arrive at work on time and when scheduled.
  •          Ability to stand on feet up to 7 hours a day and work in a fast-paced environment.
  •          Ability to operate washer and dryer equipment.
  •          Physically able to move/lift large, heavy objects such as linen, linen carts, and/or bags of linen.
  •          Physically able to operate cleaning equipment such as brooms, spray bottles.
  •          Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members verbally or in written form, over the phone or in person.
  •          Ability to learn, follow, and enforce standards for cleanliness as they apply to the laundry area.
  •          Ability to follow all safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in emergency situations.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Six months of laundry experience/housekeeping/janitorial experience preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Standing/Walking: 100%
  • Shift work required; must be able to work weekends and holidays; may need to work overtime.
  • Ability to grasp, lift, and carry or otherwise move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • With assistance, lifts, carries, pushing, and pulling up to 150 lbs.
  •          Ability to move throughout building, bend, stoop, and reach to assist room attendants, house persons, laundry attendants in the completion of their duties and their absence.
  •          Shift work required; must be able to work weekends and holidays; may need to work overtime.
