Rossford Schools is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative professional to serve as Assistant Treasurer. Rossford Schools is committed to preparing, inspiring, and empowering all students to achieve success. The successful candidate will support the Treasurer and Treasurer’s Office staff in maintaining accurate financial records, meeting required deadlines, supporting accounting and payroll-related functions, and ensuring strong fiscal practices across the district.
Salary: Competitive wages (beginning at $67,381) and fringe benefits, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Position Overview
The Assistant Treasurer assists and supports the Treasurer and departmental personnel in meeting all office requirements and deadlines. This position plays an important role in the fiscal operations of the district, including accounting procedures, financial reporting, purchase order control, payroll and contract-related processes, budget support, federal program reporting, and general operations of the Treasurer’s Office. The Assistant Treasurer must maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and work effectively with district staff, administrators, vendors, and external partners.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- State of Ohio Treasurer’s License preferred, or ability to obtain licensure
- Experience with USAS/USPS and school district fiscal operations preferred
- Knowledge of accounting practices, financial procedures, and computerized accounting systems
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively with district staff, administrators, vendors, and community members
- Proficiency with technology systems and software applications (eFinancePlus) necessary for the position

Responsibilities
Financial Records, Reporting & Accounting Support
- Operate and understand, as directed, the computerized accounting system for the State of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
- Generate reports and assist with posting expenditures and receipts
- Prepare bank deposits and assist with monthly balancing and reconciliation processes
- Maintain financial records, including tuition accounts, travel records/logs, Board minutes, and other records as assigned
- Assist with cash-flow management procedures, revenue projections, appropriation procedures, budget development, cost projections, and planning
Treasurer’s Office Operations
- Prepare reports, correspondence, invoices, and other documents for administration and the Board of Education
- Provide general clerical and operational support within the Treasurer’s Office
- Support Treasurer’s Office communications and daily operations, including routing information, responding to inquiries, and coordinating time-sensitive items as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for sensitive district information at all times
Purchasing, Contracts & Payroll Support
- Responsible for purchase order number control assignment and proper account coding
- Process contracts, contract changes, and adjustments as approved by the Board of Education
- Assist in administering wage and salary programs in accordance with negotiated agreements
- Verify payroll postings to the general journal
- Assist payroll, accounts payable, and benefits staff as needed or as assigned by the Treasurer
Budget, Federal Programs & Student Activity Support
- Assist with the preparation and control of building and operating budgets, including lunchroom and student activity funds
- Assist with federal program controls, reporting, reimbursements, subsidy applications, and related federal reports
- Maintain necessary forms and reports for student activity files, sales, profit/loss statements, financial reports, ticket sales, and related records
- Assist with inventory procedures and research projects as requested
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
- Assist in negotiations with classified and certified staff, as assigned
- Support district staff including building cashiers
- Serve as a positive and professional representative of the district
- Fulfill responsibilities as outlined in the applicable job description, including other duties as assigned by the Treasurer and/or Superintendent of Schools
