Job Summary


 


The Vehicle/Equipment Mechanic is ensures vehicles and equipment are in safe operating condition by determining needed repairs and/or replacements on district vehicles; performing required repairs and preventive maintenance and providing written documentation of repairs to meet district, state and federal requirements. 


 


Requirements / Qualifications



  • Job-related experience within specialized field required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid California Class A or B driver's license.

Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in an examination process. Exam Components consist of a Multiple choice test (weight: 20%), a Performance test (weight: 30%), and a Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weight: 50%).

 

The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as open/promotional-dual certification: candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and pass the exams are placed on an eligibility list. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months.
