What You'll Do
As an Assistant Transportation Manager, you'll play a key role in overseeing daily transportation operations and ensuring efficiency, safety, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and support a team of 20+ drivers and relief drivers
- Manage delivery schedules, routing, and load planning
- Monitor and improve driver performance, productivity, and safety
- Maintain driver schedules and provide coverage when needed
- Coach and develop team members in safety, efficiency, and customer service
- Support hiring, on-boarding, and performance management processes
- Partner with HR on employee relations, coaching, and corrective actions
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives within transportation operations
- Collaborate with the Transportation Manager on departmental goals and projects
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in transportation/logistics supervision
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to safety and operational excellence
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Combination of office and outdoor work
- Active role requiring standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Must be able to lift/move items over 100 lbs as needed
- Requires strong visual awareness (close, distance, and peripheral vision)
