Achievement Coach

Position Overview

The Achievement Coach works directly with youth participants to lead engaging academic, enrichment, and leadership activities within DREAAM’s Afterschool Academy and Summer Programs. This role focuses on creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment where young people can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Achievement Coaches serve as mentors and facilitators who help students build confidence, develop skills, and experience meaningful learning opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead academic, social-emotional, recreational, and leadership activities.

  • Support students during daily program activities and transitions.

  • Collaborate with program staff, volunteers, and Site Coordinators.

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for participants.

  • Enforce program expectations and behavior guidelines.

  • Monitor student safety and respond appropriately to incidents.

  • Support community events and family engagement activities.

  • Assist with program preparation, organization, and cleanup.

  • Serve as a positive role model for youth participants.


Working Conditions

  • After-school hours aligned with the academic calendar.

  • Programming typically Monday through Friday with occasional weekend programs/events.

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor activities.

  • Requires standing, movement, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.


Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.

  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire (provided by employer).

  • Ability to pass background checks.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with youth.

  • Understanding of trauma-informed practices and youth development.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
