Description

The University Union on the campus of the Sacramento State campus is seeking to hire two motivated and detail-oriented students to join The Lab Express team as Print Shop Interns. In this hands-on role, you will operate professional print equipment, produce polished finished products, and serve as a campus ambassador by installing print materials across campus. This is an excellent opportunity to build real-world skills in print production, customer service, and campus operations.

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

 

Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check, educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript), or driver clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.

 

UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.

 

Prerequisites

 

Students working at the University Union or The WELL must be attending classes at Sacramento State during the regular term (Fall, Spring), and enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) semester units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester units for graduate students.

Work Schedule

 

Flexible hours, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor. 

 

Additional Work Schedule

 

Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Monday – Friday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).

 

Compensation

 

$17.65 Hourly

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated experience working on a Mac.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high-pressure situations.
  • Professional level of organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Solid technical (computer) skills.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, take directions and work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience working with large-format printers. 
  • Copy and print shop experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Attend to the needs of our clients.
  • Prepare and set up files for printing.
  • Review, prioritize, and handle print requests.
  • Deliver print projects within established time frames.
  • Inform clients of the estimated completion time. 
  • Mount printed materials.
  • Create invoices for clients.
  • Assist with production within the office.
  • Operate a Wire-O Binding machine as well as a laminator.
  • Assist with small design projects.
  • Work closely with the creative team on a diverse range of print projects.
  • Maintain a log of all completed projects.
  • Help with opening and closing the print center.
  • Assist in keeping the center neat and professional-looking.
  • Assist in tracking inventory of supplies.
  • Responsible for minor maintenance of printers by solving paper jams and replacing toner cartridges.
  • Screens telephone calls and receives visitors. Determines the nature of the call/visit and whether the call/visit can be handled personally or must be referred. 

 

Physical Requirements

 

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Summary

Union WELL, Inc. is an auxiliary of Sacramento State. The corporation consists of the facility operations and programs of two buildings: The WELL (Recreation & Wellness Center) and The University Union.

The WELL, totaling approximately 150,000 square feet, houses three fitness studios, a cardio suite, two fitness floors, a multi-activity court, basketball courts, a rock climbing wall, four racquetball courts, an indoor running track, locker rooms, and conference center. The WELL is also home to Student Health and Counseling Services.
