    POSITION:  Demonstration Classroom, Elementary or Secondary Teacher

    LOCATION: District

    PAY RATE: $2,000

    (Based on 40 hours throughout the school year, paid out twice per at the end of each semester)

    REPORTS TO: Teaching and Learning Designee

     

    SUMMARY:

    Mapleton Public Schools will be identifying demonstration classrooms across grade levels and content areas to continue to deepen our Instructional Infrastructure as a district. The purpose is to provide a model for teachers which illustrates components of first best instruction and support educators in elevating their craft through observation, feedback, and reflection. Opportunities will be provided across Mapleton where teachers can observe best practices in action.

     

    We are seeking teachers who want to open their classrooms to become demonstration classrooms. Teachers in demonstration classroom believe they can change learning outcomes for students through strong and rigorous instructional practices. Teachers in demonstration classrooms value learning, are reflective, and want to grow their practice to ensure access for every student.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience on a Professional License
    • Strong skills in backward design, unit planning, and lesson internalization of board-adopted curriculum
    • Active learning environments where students do the heavy lifting and grapple with grade level, rigorous tasks and texts

       

    • Active monitoring and feedback during independent practice

       

    • Responding to student error with reteach/guided discourse
    • Positive, productive learning environments with well-established systems and routines
    • Empathy for teachers new to the profession
    • Reflective practitioner who responds to feedback and makes instructional adjustments
    • Iterative and growth mindset, seeking best practices and improved strategies for learning 

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Use of BOE curricular resources
    • Must provide lesson/unit plans utilizing the critical components (2x a year)
    • Attend occasional meetings and/or trainings with all demonstration classroom teachers to include P.D. on:
      • Differentiating for all learners, especially MLLs (multilingual learners)
      • Instructional Look For Document and Danielson
      • Shifting the cognitive load to independent learners
      • Grade level rigor, etc.
      • Use of data to inform instruction
    • Occasional meetings during plan time to plan and reflect with IG and/or Teaching and Learning designee
    • Occasional classroom or IDT visits from Site Supervisors, Teaching & Learning, and School Directors (throughout the year)
    • Occasional classroom visits from teachers in the district (throughout the year)
    • Ability to receive and implement feedback
    • Comfortable being videotaped
    • Leading PD and being present at district PD Days and site PD
    • Displays level of professionalism

     

    COMMITMENTS

    • Two-year commitment* beginning the 26 - 27 school year

           *Eligibility for the on-going years will be determined through a re-evaluation process.
