Job Description


The CT Technologist is responsible for working directly with patients and assisting radiologists and/or staff physicians while administering ionizing radiation in the course of computerized tomography (CT) examinations in concordance with physician’s orders. This professionally trained person will be responsible for the operation of CT scanners, flow rate injectors, an EKG monitoring system, a picture archiving system. This position is responsible for the use of radiographic supplies including iodinated contrast while providing patient care and patient safety as established by department standards. This position is responsible for performing a variety of basic secretarial, clerical and housekeeping functions such as customer service, examination and work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval, (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection control.  This position, in addition to superb technical skills, will also require the ability to follow the CRMC service commitments to customers and fellow staff. Other duties as assigned.



Education:  Associates degree in Radiologic Technology required.  Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a CT Technologist  preferred. If not currently registered in CT, must obtain CT certification within one year of completing CT training.  BLS required.



Experience:  Two years experience with all types of CT exams on multi-slice scanner is preferred.  Operates Computerized Tomography scanners, flow regulated injectors, UPS systems, patient monitors, hospital computer systems and other associated medical imaging equipment.  Have the ability to deal with patients, families and other hospital employees in a professional and caring manner in times of great stress and crises. Have the ability to handle constant pressure, stress and numerous interruptions associated with the busy schedule in the CT area.
