PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Ensures safety of personnel and compliance with all applicable health and safety rules, policies and regulations.
- Maintains a high level of safety awareness and performance within the department.
- Follow company standards, policies and objectives.
- Observes machine in operation, to ensure even flow of stock and to detect jamming, improper feeding, or foreign materials.
- Marks cutting lines, or identifying information on stock, using marking pencil, ruler or scribe.
- Stacks and sorts material according to type and size, for packaging, further processing or shipping.
- Clean and lubricate machine.
- Reads work orders and blueprints, or receive oral instructions, regarding specifications for stock to be cut.
- Maintains general housekeeping for work area.
- Support and be involved in continuous improvement projects.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
No specific education or experience required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- At least one year of relevant experience is preferred.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to do basic math, including decimals and percentages
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Must be able to work independently
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must have working knowledge of common materials
- Must have general knowledge of pre-determined, routine procedures to include loading and unloading of parts in machines, part inspection, blueprint reading (will train), full scale drawing use and knowledge of inspection tool use.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Continuous mental and visual attention is required
- Requires constant alertness and attention to detail of correct product shipped and the count quantity
- Work involves likelihood of irregularity of work schedule to meet customer demand
- Performing these duties will involve lifting, pulling, or pushing physical objects; standing, stooping and bending, walking and standing for long periods of time
- Working in hot, cold, noisy work areas and being exposed to odors, fumes, and dust
- Must be able to constantly sustain exertion and lifting of parts ranging from 0-75 lbs.
- Must wear steel toe shoes, ear plugs, and safety glasses at ALL times on the production floor, hard hats required in certain areas
