Job Description

Position Title: Adjunct Faculty 

Program: Genetic Counseling Graduate Program 

Institution: Augustana University



I. Position Summary

The Adjunct Faculty member provides specialized instructional support and mentorship within the Genetic Counseling Graduate Program. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality academic content, contributing to the program's outcomes and facilitating community-engaged learning. 


II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instructional Delivery: Develop and deliver graduate-level coursework in accordance with the program curriculum. This includes creating syllabus materials, lecturing, and managing student assessments.

  • Student Mentorship: Serve as a resource for graduate students, offering guidance on professional development and academic progress within their area of expertise.

  • Administrative Compliance: Maintain accurate records of student performance and submit required documentation to the Co-Director/s in a timely manner.

III. Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree or higher in Genetic Counseling or a related field. 

  • Expertise: We are looking to fill two positions with two different areas of focus. 

    • Research instructor: 

      • Demonstrated proficiency in research, particular interest in individuals with a strong background in qualitative research techniques.

      • This individual will co-instruct our five-course research curriculum to help students in meeting the program research requirement. 

    • Genetics in the Community instructor:

      • Significant background in developing or facilitating community-based learning.

      • The goal of this course is for students to understand the impact of genetics across a patient’s life, as well as understanding community resources that you might engage with as a genetic counselor. 


Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
