Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities: Gives guidance and direction to the Truck Driver Helper when one is assigned. (Truck Driver Helper may not always be available).

 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid driver's license

Other Skills and Abilities: Must be able to work with individuals with disabilities/disadvantaged.

Cooperate with the Recycle Warehouse Supervisor and Store Managers in providing rehabilitation services to clients.

Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Opens gate in morning, bringing in any donations left overnight and cleaning up trash from overnight.
  • Loads and secures bins, boxes, and pallets before transport.
  • Unloads truck and assists store personnel with loading and unloading donations and/or salvage and/or
  • Delivers salvage from outlying stores to Virginia Avenue warehouse location.
  • Transports and unloads trash at local dump.
  • Participates in commercial and home pick-ups and donation drives.
  • Maintains contact with supervisor to receive instructions via cell phone while following the cell phone policy from the handbook.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water daily using daily check off sheets. Alerts the DGR Analyst of the need for service and/or any potential problem areas.
  • Maintains the cleaning of the trucks inside and out. This includes washing and vacuuming.
  • Follows all DOT rules and regulations.
  • Completes daily log and inspection sheet and turns in at end of shift along with fuel cards and receipts, store mail, and truck keys.
  • Other Duties may be assigned.
