Zurich North America is hiring a Business Process Engineer to join our RCIS crop team! We are seeking to hire talent with an office presence 3 days a week in our Schaumburg North American Headquarters.
The Business Process Engineer supports the planning, execution, and measurement of business unit and/or strategic support unit initiatives. Identifies business improvement opportunities, develops practical solutions, and supports the management of initiatives in alignment with established strategic direction. Applies defined methodologies and tools to support sponsors and team members and contributes to a culture that embraces continuous improvement and change. Participates in cross-functional projects that promote organizational effectiveness, efficiency, and profitability. Develops timelines, agendas, goals, and metrics, and ensures appropriate change management practices are applied throughout the initiative lifecycle to support effective execution and delivery of results.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborates with business unit/strategic support unit leadership to help identify business improvement opportunities and supports the execution of solutions aligned with enterprise and business unit strategic objectives.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and adoption of best practices related to execution discipline and change management.
- Supports strategic and/or tactical business planning activities by providing structured methodologies, tools, and facilitation to sponsors and teams to help drive initiatives toward intended outcomes.
- Facilitates teams and applies established tools and approaches to support initiative execution, promote consistency, and reinforce a culture receptive to change.
- Ensures defined metrics and measures within solutions align to business objectives, track progress, and assess the impact of implemented changes.
- Leverages skills and resources across functional disciplines and works with the Change Network to support initiative delivery.
- Contributes to the development of communication and implementation procedures for corporate or business unit initiatives, partnering with HRBPs as appropriate on people-related impacts.
- Partners with Business Engineering to apply enterprise processes and solutions in support of business unit or functional needs.
- Demonstrates the ability to influence outcomes and support “win/win” solutions through collaboration, facilitation, and effective communication.
- Maintains awareness of business unit/strategic support unit initiatives, identifies potential overlaps or dependencies, and supports prioritization discussions by providing input on change impacts.
Business Accountabilities:
- Supports the development and review of business cases and project plans to ensure alignment with financial and operational requirements.
- Leads or supports the implementation of projects that drive business change within a function or business area, delivering defined objectives using assigned resources and within timeframes typically up to one year.
- Contributes to project portfolios supporting operational change, typically involving initiatives with medium-term time horizons.
- Provides guidance and advisory support to colleagues to promote understanding of, and adherence to, company risk and compliance processes.
- Identifies and assesses risks associated with change initiatives and escalates issues to project sponsors or governance forums as appropriate.
- Analyzes information from multiple data sources to identify trends, impacts, and considerations affecting the success of business change initiatives.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of process and system improvements that support business change objectives.
- Evaluates complex business change requirements and develops solutions within established policy, standards, and governance frameworks.
- Provides insights to management to support decision-making related to initiative execution and local business performance.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with middle management and cross-functional partners to support business change initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Operations area
OR - High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Operations area
AND - Knowledge in organizational design and development
- Experience leading organizational change
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of existing and emerging technologies and how those technologies can be used to improve insurance business processes and transaction processing
- Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma, with related training or certification a plus (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, Root Cause Analysis).
- Experience supporting process improvement and business change initiatives, including activities that drive adoption and readiness.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience collecting data and supporting the development, tracking, and interpretation of operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Experience using process mapping and documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Mural) to develop or support current‑ and future‑state process flows, SOPs, and job aids.
- Ability to support benefit realization tracking and post‑implementation measurement.
- Experience working effectively in a cross‑functional, matrixed environment and building collaborative relationships.
- Experience in manufacturing or other environments focused on process discipline, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The proposed Salary range for this position is $95,900.00 - $157,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
