Job Description

We are seeking a local HR coordinator to assist in our Detroit, MI region. The ideal candidate has a "can do" mentality, is highly organized and efficient, and previous experience in an HR role. This position will report to a local General Manager, as well as our home office HR department.


About us: SRM Concrete is a family-owned and operated company providing ready-mix concrete, aggregates, and construction-related products and services in 19 states. We are the largest privately held ready-mix concrete provider in the country.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (anywhere from 40-60 hours depending on business demand)
Annual salary range will depend on previous experience and hours worked per week.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Local point of contact for team members with HR related questions or concerns
  • Clerical assistance for operational supervisors or the home office HR dept.
  • Conducting Clearinghouse queries, background checks, running MVRs, scheduling drug screens, and pre-employment physicals for new hires.
  • Data entry of new hires into payroll and time system
  • In coordination with operational supervisors, conduct weekly new hire orientations
  • Review and approve team member's time punches each week
  • Document call outs, vacations PTO, and any other communications from Operational Supervisors to a shared calendar
  • Send in team member vacation & PTO requests in each week
  • Sign off on all write ups and separation forms and submit back to the home office each week
  • Point of contact for unemployment claims, wage audits, and hearings
  • Responsible for the upkeep of new and updated medical cards and driver's licenses
  • Assist with WC claims
  • Other duties as assigned
