The teams in GRC work to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of control and compliance at American Express to successfully identify, monitor and manage risks. As a part of this team, you’ll work with the industry’s top GRC teams to create smart but innovative strategies that advance our market share and the way we do business by continuously monitoring risks to mitigate adverse risk-related events.
Job Responsibilities:
There are different Job families within Global Risk and Compliance teams. Specific job responsibilities vary as per the Job family.
- Independent risk management of all American Express (AXP) models. Handle and controls model risk associated to Artificial Intelligence/ Machine learning or traditional models to elevate model soundness/ excellence, strengthen long term Shareholder value and satisfy Regulatory expectations. Independent review of our credit risk strategies and operational gaps which can lead to potential breakdowns
- Independent oversight and effective challenge for risk activities/strategies related to Asset Liability Management (including Interest Rate and FX Risk), Funding and Liquidity Risk, and Capital Management across American Express.
- Independent review of people, culture and conduct risk for the company.Team is also responsible for ensuring that American Express’s most critical data and supporting processes can be trusted for their intended purposes, meet regulatory requirements, and support the development & execution of effective risk management practices.
Conducting data driven reviews of credit, treasury, and operational processes to identify gaps in processes in particular with respect to internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Performs validation and analysis to identify, monitor and management of risks related to the business products and processes. The team also assists in design and maintenance of operational risk frameworks, ensuring programs are being carried out timely and accurately.
- Develops, implements, monitors, and optimizes the automated transaction monitoring rules, reports, models and other processes designed to identify activity potentially indicative of financial crime behavior that is important from Regulator Perspective.

Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Ability to drive project deliverables to achieve business results
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently with complex, unstructured initiatives
- Ability to Integrate with Cross-Functional Business Partners Worldwide
- Good Programming skills are a must
- Knowledge of predictive modeling and advanced AI/ML algorithms
- Knowledge of Java, Hive, Pig, Python, SQL is a plus
- Knowledge of Product Management, Agile is a plus
- Knowledge of MS Office – PowerPoint, Excel
- The candidate must be graduating in the year 2025
