Overview

Job Skills / Requirements

We’re looking for a hands-on Physical Security Engineer to join our Chesterfield, MO technology lab. You’ll work closely with our engineering team based overseas— collaborating remotely on system builds, troubleshooting, and iterative development — while serving as the on-the-ground technical presence in the US for prototype assembly, lab work, and enterprise deployments.

This is a build-first role. You'll be engineering systems, not just configuring them. If you're the kind of person who designs a jig when a task needs one, reverse-engineers a vendor's protocol to make it fit, or won't leave a rack until the cable management is clean — we want to talk to you.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and deploy enterprise physical security systems (IP cameras, sensors, access control, edge devices, PoE networks)
  • Perform hands-on hardware integration: enclosures, cabling, rack builds, power, and mechanical assembly
  • Prototype new security and detection solutions using CAD and 3D printing
  • Commission, test, and document deployed systems at customer sites
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams as the on-site U.S. technical lead
  • Troubleshoot sensors, embedded hardware, IP networking, and Linux-based edge devices
  • Evaluate and integrate security technologies, vendors, and VMS platforms
  • Maintain lab operations, inventory, SOPs, and installation documentation

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in physical security systems engineering, electromechanical integration, or a related hardware discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to build and troubleshoot systems involving sensors, embedded hardware, edge computing, or custom electronics
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar) for mechanical design and fabrication prep
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (FDM/resin 3D printing) for rapid prototyping and functional parts
  • Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals — VLANs, PoE, switching, and firewall basics
  • Comfortable reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical datasheets
  • Self-directed work ethic with the ability to manage multiple concurrent project threads independently
  • Strongly Preferred Experience:
    • Background in physical security technologies — VMS platforms (Milestone, Genetec, or similar), access control, LPR, or detection systems
    • Experience with Axis, Hanwha, or comparable IP camera ecosystems including analytics and ACAP/app deployment
    • Familiarity with Linux/embedded Linux environments for edge device configuration and diagnostics
    • Exposure to controlled or regulated environments requiring documentation discipline (government, pharma, critical infrastructure)
    • Military, law enforcement, or security industry background is a plus
