Work Hours: (Full-Time) Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
The Diagnostic Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart. Communicates with the radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams.

Here is what you will need:
- Education: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
- Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS. Current compliance with CME requirements.
- Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health.
- Ability to read and write and comprehend medical terminology. Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
- Physical demands: Needs to be able to stand for long periods of time.
A Day in the Life of a Diagnostic Breast Sonographer:
- Provide services and support for the following areas:
- Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
- Produces high quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam
- Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly
- Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation
- Appropriate monitoring during all phases of procedure with special care taken to insure
- patient emotional and physical well-being
- Assist and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams
- Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile
- technique and universal precautions
- Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients
- and to referring physicians’ offices as required.
- Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and insures proper equipment
- maintenance and equipment safety
- Maintains a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members
- Other duties as assigned
