What You'll Do:
Ensure building security to include opening doors in the mornings, turning off the alarm, keeping track of exits and open doors throughout the day, closing and locking all doors at night, securing the building, and setting alarms.
Clean gymnasiums, including sweeping and mopping the floors and removing scuff marks. Clean windows, water fountains, and doors. Clean bathrooms and showers, including vacuuming, wiping, and scrubbing surface areas. Spray surfaces with cleaning solution. Clean and sanitize the cardio room.
Setup and takedown rooms for special events. Answer questions and resolve issues.
Assist patrons by answering questions and retrieving recreational equipment as needed. Ensure patron compliance with all city, department, and safety policies and procedures. Follow-up on all non-compliance issues. Inform management as appropriate.
Complete minor maintenance on equipment and/or the facility as needed. Ensure repairs needed on equipment and throughout the facility are consistently documented and reported to management.
Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues, supervisors, clients and others.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Prior experience in a recreational or public service setting is a plus but not required!

Minimum Qualifications
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility, including the ability to frequently lift or move materials up to sixty pounds, and occasionally lift or move materials up to 100 pounds. The position requires the ability to operate a motorized vehicle. Manual dexterity and coordination are required 60% of the time while operating equipment such as computers, keyboards, telephones, standard office equipment, and cleaning equipment. Physical exertion may be required to move heavy objects, crawl through tight spaces, and kneel in confined areas. Physical effort may be required to perform manual labor in confined and cramped spaces and uncomfortable conditions, climb ladders, bend, reach, and stand for long periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work location is primarily indoors and may involve exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, and wet and slippery surfaces. The Building Attendant works on a daily basis with dangerous and toxic cleaning products that can be very harmful to one's health if not properly utilized. The Building Attendant also regularly has to clean up blood, vomit and other bodily fluids that are unpleasant to deal with.
