Shift: Evening

Primary Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Weekend Needs: Every Other

Salary Range: Min $23.63 Mid $28.95 Max $34.26

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period, all applicants will be considered equally.

Primary Shift: 1500-2330

Secondary Shifts: 1400-2230 every Wednesday and 0700-1530 every other weekend.

GENERAL SUMMARY: 
Pre-hospital:    The EMT functions as defined by New York State Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services certification standards. Performs all duties as outlined by local Medical Control Protocols.

Hospital: The EMT performs various duties as outlined in the Job Description and assists staff nurses and physicians in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Medical Center.  All ambulance calls will take priority over the assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS:  
Education/Skills Required:
1.    High school graduate or equivalent work experience, including ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
2.    New York State Basic EMT certification required, however official State provided documentation of passing exam will be honored up to 3 months from time of the test date
3.    Previous experience as an EMT preferred.
4.    Has current and maintains AHA BLS certification or current non-AHA BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal
5.    Meets requirements of pre-employment screening and physical.
6.    Holds a valid U.S. Driver's license.
7.     Meets requirement to drive an ambulance
8.    EVOC or equivalent within a year of hire.
    
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of patients for which care is being provided.
