We are seeking a passionate and innovative Fourth Grade Teacher to join our dynamic team.

Position Description

The Synchronous 3rd Grade Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective instruction to a cohort of third-grade students in a virtual setting. This role requires a highly organized, adaptable, and technologically proficient educator with good time management skills who is dedicated to creating a positive and interactive online learning environment. The teacher will utilize a variety of digital tools and resources to deliver curriculum, assess student progress, communicate with families, and collaborate with colleagues. This position will report directly to the Elementary Principal.

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certification in Elementary Education 
  • Experience teaching in a virtual or blended learning environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies for elementary-aged students.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate students in a virtual setting.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instruction, assessment, and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A strong commitment to student success and a passion for online education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Familiarity with online curriculum resources and digital educational tools.
  • Experience in creating and delivering synchronous lessons
  • Training or certification in online teaching methodologies.
  • Orton Gillingham Training.

Essential Duties

  • Deliver Engaging Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, interactive live lessons in the core subjects aligned with Michigan curriculum standards 
  • Utilize Online Platforms: Effectively support student learning on the school's Learning Management System (LMS) and other online tools
  • Foster a Positive Virtual Classroom: Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive  climate and culture in the online classroom that encourages student participation, collaboration, and a sense of community.
  • Differentiate Instruction: Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of individual students, providing differentiated support and enrichment opportunities.
  • Assess Student Learning: Implement a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student understanding, analyze student data to guide instruction 
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain regular and effective communication with students, parents/guardians, and school staff through various digital channels (e.g., email, virtual meetings, phone calls).
  • Provide Individualized Support: Offer individualized support and guidance to students through virtual office hours, one-on-one meetings, and targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Participate actively in professional development opportunities, collaborate with grade-level and intervention teams, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the cyber school program.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, assignments, and communication.
  • Adhere to School Policies: Follow all school policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in using various educational technologies, including video conferencing software, online collaboration tools, and digital content resources.
  • Carry out other duties and obligations that are determined to facilitate the school’s mission, goals, standards, and Education Program
  • Employee must honor written Board Policies and Administrative Regulations
  • Employee must be able to work from a designated Learning Lab as scheduled
  • Employee must be able to stand for a minimum of 30 minutes at a time
  • Employee must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Employee must be able to move throughout the Learning Lab
  • Employee must be able to sit in chair for long intervals
