Job Description

Job Purpose

The Engineering Manager will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on designing, developing, and delivering cutting-edge power electronics and battery systems for UAVs and other advanced platforms. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage projects from concept through production while ensuring quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Manage and mentor a team of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support professional development plans.

Project Supervision:

  • Oversee engineering projects from requirements definition through design, testing, and delivery.
  • Ensure projects meet technical specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Evaluate project and design status at reviews and provide management approval to proceed.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts with product management, manufacturing, and business development.

Technical Oversight:

  • Provide guidance on system architecture, power electronics design, battery technology, and embedded systems.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, schematics, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (UN 38.3, FCC guidelines).

Process & Quality:

  • Implement best practices in design verification, validation, and risk management.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools.
  • Maintain adherence to ISO and AS9100 quality standards.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with customers to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Support business development with technical presentations and proposal input.
  • Represent engineering in internal and external meetings.

Lab and Budget Management:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly equipped engineering lab space.
  • Plan and report on estimated expenditures for software, equipment, and consumables.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).

Experience:

  • 8+ years in engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management position.
  • Proven experience in power electronics, battery systems, or aerospace/defense technologies.

Skills:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools, simulation software, and embedded systems development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of UAV systems, energy storage technologies, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with ISO/AS9100 environments and agile development practices.
