As a quarry manager you'll be responsible for ensuring that quarries, pits and opencast sites operate successfully. You'll oversee all operations, both on site and in the office, manage and support staff, coordinate production, and monitor all site systems as well as ensure Operational Excellence and Health & Safety principles of Sibelco are upheld.

The role’s key accountabilities will primarily involve:

  • Manage Operations activities for 6 active quarries in the Westerwald and Eifel area according to the Operational Excellence and Health & Safety principles of Sibelco
  • Motivate and evaluate a team of around 25 employees to enhance team collaboration and support their individual development and growth
  • Initiate activities to develop safe working environment at the quarry
  • Meet the yearly COS budget approved by the management and explain the positive and negative gaps
  • Aim for the highest standard in the industry and obtain the best competitive cost position (cost reduction, increase site yield, better value-products, better processes, etc.)
  • Operate within the frameworks of the required permits
  • Implement of regional KPI’s into the quarry and follow up their achievement
  • Continuously initiate and drive improvement to ensure excellent team performance

Essentially for this role you will:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Have a fundamental personal affinity for clay business
  • 5 years of experience with mining processes
  • Be willing to travel locally between different quarries in the Westerwald and Eifel area
  • Have a good understanding of mining organization models including maintenance and quality requirements 
  • Knowledge of legal guidelines regarding mining law and permitting processes
  • Ability to motivate team members to achieve best performance
  • Speak German and English fluently
