Lead Hand – Toronto Manufacturing (Dampers)
The position of Production Lead Hand is an exciting opportunity on our Toronto Manufacturing team. We are looking for an individual who is technically inclined, energetic, enthusiastic, productive and can handle multiple priorities in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the performance of processes and employees in the Dampers cell.
- Managing orders and ensuring all needed materials are on-hand by working closely with the purchasing team.
- Troubleshooting production issues with support from senior operators and the production specialists.
- Working with senior operators to develop an in-depth knowledge of the product line, utilizing documentation to capture critical-to-process information.
- Becoming a product expert.
- Implementing and championing Lean initiatives.
- Coaching and collaborating with team members to ensure high-quality product is built in a safe, cost-effective, timely manner.
- Ensuring department compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to make critical decisions both independently and with senior management.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Previously worked in a manufacturing environment with a mandate for safety and quality.
- Sheet Metal experience is a must.
- A willingness and ability to learn technical requirements of the product.
- 3-5 years of management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- An aptitude for reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Strong leadership skills and an ability to effect and champion change.
- A proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing concepts is an asset.
- A post-secondary education.
Additional:
- Regular hours of work for this position are Monday to Thursday 7:00 Am to 4:00 Pm, Friday 7:00 Am to 1:00 Pm.
- This role requires flexibility to work outside of regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and during unforeseen operational issues, as needed.
- The Lead Hand is also encouraged to model professionalism for the team by showing consistency in punctuality and taking ownership of daily responsibilities, helping to set a positive standard for staff members.
