General Responsibilities

 

The Pe Ell School District is a K-12 district located in Southwest Washington serving about 270 students in West Lewis County, WA. The Pe Ell School currently operates on a 4-day school week schedule (Mon – Thurs, dependent upon renewal approval by OSPI) with one Friday each month as a School Improvement Day for staff only.

Assignment: The Pe Ell School District is seeking an energetic and student-focused candidate to provide TARGETED specially designed Title I/LAP (Grades K-5) instruction and Special Education (multi-level) instruction. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing educational opportunities for rural students of various ages and ability levels, and a commitment to going above and beyond to support students in achieving their personal and academic goals. The position generally involves providing elementary students Title I and LAP services and providing elementary and middle school students with specially designed instruction in Special Education, including but not limited to math, reading, social and writing improvements.  There is also the potential to teach other elementary, middle or secondary classes if needed. Course offerings may vary from year to year based on student needs. Additional teaching duties and course assignments may be adjusted to meet the needs of students and the district.

Salary: Teacher pay scale in the 2025-2026 school year ranges from $56,622 – $109,916.00 annually based on education and experience. Other extracurricular roles and pay stipends may also be available, including coaching.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:
The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building administrator.

1.     Provide Title/LAP instruction for grades K-5, potentially moving into middle levels (6-8) as well.

2.     Provide elementary, middle and high school students specially designed instruction in special education; instruct students in math, reading, social and writing improvements

Note:  Due to the small size of Pe Ell School District, teachers may be assigned to different subjects than their originally hired position.

3.     Develop lesson plans and teaching outlines using Washington State Standards.

4.     Teach using a variety of methodologies, including inquiry, demonstrations, discussions and technology/laboratory experiences.

5.     Plan, develop, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students from varied socio-economic backgrounds who possess a range of mental and emotional maturity.

6.     Provide group and individual instruction to motivate students and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities.

7.     Prepare, administer, score, record and report student growth data.

8.     Counsel, confer with, and communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding pupil progress.

9.     Monitor children's interactions and nurture cooperation and team building.

10. Collaborate with all school staff members.

11. Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations.

Other Functions:

1.     Other duties as assigned by administration.

3.     Proctor, evaluate results and provide data to staff and parents of testing outcomes.
