    Physical Education Assistant



    The position for a Physical Education Assistant will be available at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year.  All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website.  The deadline for submitting an application is until the position is filled.  
     
    PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of assigned certified teacher(s) and campus administration.  Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing various classroom and campus assignments for the betterment of the campus's school-wide program.  

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
    2. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
    3. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
    4. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
    5. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
    6. Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
    7. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.  This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
    8. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
    9. Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
    10. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
    11. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
    12. Perform other duties as related to the enhancement and support of a Title 1 school-wide program.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
    Education/Certification:
    High school diploma or GED
    Must have one of the following:

    • 48 semester college hours with some emphasis on child growth or development or related area
    • Treasuring our Paraprofessionals certificate

    Educational Aide Certificate
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
    Ability to work well with children
    Ability to communicate effectively
    Bilingual preferred
    Experience:
    Some experience working with children
    Perform duties with minimum supervision  

    EQUIPMENT USED:  Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment  

    WORKING CONDITIONS:  Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions.  Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, walking, pushing and lifting.  Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.  Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).  May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students.  Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise.  Exposure to biological hazards.   

    PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:  187 Days
    SALARY:  Paraprofessional Pay Grade 201
