    POSITION PURPOSE

    The Part-Time Online Science Teacher supports students at Snake River Opportunities School (SROHS) through high-quality instruction, meaningful feedback, and strong relationship-building in a virtual learning environment. This position focuses on science instruction and includes collaboration with staff to support student success in an online school model.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Valid Idaho teaching license with appropriate science endorsement, or eligibility to obtain appropriate Idaho licensure.
    • Experience in online, alternative, or virtual education preferred.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students and families in a remote setting.
    • Commitment to customized learning, student growth, and continuous improvement.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: Teachers at Snake River Opportunities High School serve as both mentor teachers and content teachers.

    • Serve as an asynchronous science content teacher by providing instruction, support, progress monitoring, evaluation, timely feedback, accurate recordkeeping, and synchronous support as needed in assigned courses.
    • Develop and revise science courses, learning resources, and instructional materials to support student engagement and school priorities.
    • Serve as an active mentor for an assigned group of students through relationship-building, regular communication with students and families, progress monitoring, support for academic and graduation planning, goal-setting, accountability, and encouragement of participation in adventure and other school engagement opportunities.
    • Collaborate with staff to address barriers to student success and participate in schoolwide responsibilities such as MTSS, career spotlight activities, and team collaboration.

    WORK SETTING
    Work from home, with periodic in-person team meetings, student activities, adventure experiences, and face-to-face mentoring responsibilities as needed throughout the year, including occasional extended or overnight commitments.

    SALARY:
     Placement on the Snake River School District salary schedule based on experience.

    START DATE:  May 29, 2026. This position will begin with a summer school support assignment from May 29 through June 26, 2026. If the arrangement is determined to be a good fit for both the employee and the district, employment will continue for the 2026�2027 school year beginning August 10, 2026.
