SCOPE:
Under the direction of the supervisor, workers perform production, maintenance or janitorial duties as assigned to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, yield and Cost goals. Each operator is responsible for an has the necessary authority to ensure quality, including stopping production to correct quality non-conformance.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

TOOLING & EQUIPMENT: Micrometers, pins, draw dies, sample scale, hand grinder, assorted hand tools, computer terminal for data entry to shipping documents/daily production.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: Assist supervisor and fellow workers as needed to ensure proper flow of materials/supplies. Plan, organize and distribute daily tooling and material supply needs for the department. Do quality checks at the blocks. Maintain Low Fin Crib.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTION: Fill in when needed on all operations in the Mill.
JOB DESCRIPTION: At the start of the shift, check each operation for required tooling, supplies and production orders. Do a variety of paperwork, including, but not limited to, daily shift reports, production records, micrometer certification reports, and Coordinator Quality Control Log. Return all tooling to the pin and die crib for rework. Coordinate the movement of all materials and supplies to each operation. At the start of the shift and each product change, make a quality check for each operation. Advise operator and supervisor of any discrepancies and make necessary adjustments. Record results in appropriate logs and charts. At the start of shift, set all test equipment. Train new employees. Plan for and assist in the relief program for each operation. Fill in for relief operators as necessary. Apply all overages to new orders. Fill in on all operations assigned; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Inventory stock ahead of fin machines. Maintain low fin crib inventory. Rebuild low fin heads as needed. Maintain inventory on size and burr stripper pilots. Receive tools from crib (mandrels, notching discs, etc.), inspect, mark and put into low fin crib. Assist operators with set-up problems. Coordinate the remake of stock shortages with the other departments.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have good working knowledge of all operations in the mill. Must be a licensed forklift driver. Must be able to work with others. Must have above-average attendance, +5 or better. Must be willing to work overtime as needed. Ineligible if on any corrective action.
