JOB SUMMARY
Protective Industrial Products, Inc. (PIP), a leading global provider of personal protective equipment to industrial and retail customers, has an immediate opening within its Finance organization.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support general accounting activities across the Americas region. This position will report to the Assistant Controller, Americas. The Staff Accountant plays an integral role in general accounting, policy implementation, and month-end close processes within the shared services environment. Responsibilities include maintaining and analyzing general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, and performing detailed reviews of financial data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, with the initiative to identify process improvement opportunities and support the implementation of approved enhancements. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as this role partners with cross-functional teams and may interact with external stakeholders, including vendors and customers. The ability to communicate effectively and work across a diverse organization is key to success in this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare assigned balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and proper supporting documentation.
- Review travel and expense reports through Concur for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and post journal entries based on supporting documentation, including inventory, accruals, and adjustments.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including account analysis and reporting deadlines.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Maintain and update accounting systems, ensuring data integrity and process efficiency.
- Research and resolve accounting issues, providing clear explanations and recommendations.
- Assist with consolidated financial reporting and annual budgeting processes.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and other departments to support inventory accuracy and overall financial performance.
- Perform financial analysis, including inventory and cost-related variances, and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and controls.
- Assist with accrued expenses, deduction coding, and review accounts payable to ensure all transactions are accurately reported or accrued in the general ledger.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 1-3 years of general accounting experience, preferably within a mid-to-large, multi-entity organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Strong communication skills with a high level of attention to detail; ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to apply consistent accounting standards while adapting to evolving business needs and priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with Eclipse or similar ERP systems is a plus.
- Highly organized, dependable, and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
