Under the general direction of the Director of Agency Advancement, Villa of Hope is seeking a creative, motivated Social Media & Marketing Intern to support the agency’s marketing and communications efforts. The intern will assist with social media content creation, digital marketing initiatives, and storytelling to help elevate awareness of Villa of Hope’s mission, programs, and impact in the community. This role provides hands‑on experience in nonprofit marketing while contributing directly to mission‑driven work.


This position, a pivotal part of the organization’s overall strategy, will be responsible for carrying out all responsibilities with fidelity and accountability to the Agency’s Mission, Vision, and Values in conjunction with the Sanctuary Commitments. 



 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Assist with planning, creating, and scheduling content for Villa of Hope’s social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Draft captions, short-form copy, and basic graphics consistent with brand voice and guidelines
  • Support campaign development for events, programs, and fundraising initiatives
  • Monitor social media engagement and assist with basic analytics and reporting
  • Capture photos and short videos at events or programs (as appropriate and approved)
  • Assist with website updates, email communications, and other marketing projects
  • Collaborate with program staff to highlight success stories and impact narratives
  • Perform other marketing and communications tasks as assignedOther duties as assigned by the Director of Agency Advancement

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

  • Required
    • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Media, or a related field
    • Strong written communication skills
    • Familiarity with major social media platforms
    • Interest in nonprofit work, community engagement, and storytelling
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with a diverse group of volunteers, staff and donors
  • Preferred
    • Experience with social media scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite)
    • Basic graphic design or video editing skills (Canva, Adobe, etc.)
    • Photography or short-form video experience
    • Understanding of nonprofit or human services environments

 

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, camera, or other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through digital platforms
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, or lift lightweight materials (up to 10 lbs.)
  • May be required to attend events or program activities, including light setup or breakdown
  • Occasional nights and weekends

Travel: 

  • A driver’s license or valid transportation arrangements required; mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with agency policy (if applicable)
  • Occasional local travel within Monroe County or surrounding areas may be required
  • Travel may include attending agency events, programs, or community outreach activities
  • No overnight travel is expected
