Applications for Adjunct Faculty to teach in the following areas are now being accepted and will be reviewed as needed: Finance, Economic Development, MIS, Data Analytics, and Business Law and Ethics.

Applicants should indicate in their cover letter which academic areas they are qualified to teach, as well as which campus or teaching sites (Hattiesburg and/or Long Beach) they are willing to accept as assignments.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the
United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. The
University will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B).

Job Summary
Adjunct faculty members provide face-to-face, hybrid and online course instruction including all aspects of course administration as an instructor of record.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  

  1. Adhere to class schedules as posted.
  2. Communicate course requirements to students.
  3. Teach face-to-face, hybrid and online classes as needed.
  4. Be available to assigned students for support and course advising including exams, required remediation, and summative evaluations.
  5. Be collaborative with other CBE faculty as well as the Director to plan, implement and evaluate each course offering taught to maintain quality and effectiveness.
  6. Follow the policies and procedures of the CBE and the University of Southern Mississippi.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Master degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the field of instruction. Additionally, should be AACSB qualified for being an instructor of record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Candidate must have earned 18 graduate hours or have significant and documented work experience in the teaching field (e.g., MGT, ACC, FIN, or MKT, etc.).
  • The ability to deliver accurate, concise, and quality communication (verbal and written) in timely manner.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other faculty in the unit.
  • The ability to navigate and use learning management systems for teaching, such as Canvas, as well as other technological communications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Proficiency in teaching strategies and techniques for all student populations

Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate
degree in a business related area; professional experience in an area
of instruction; evidence of scholarly research and experience in
teaching hybrid/flipped/online classes are plusses.
