CONFIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT to BARRINGTON FIRE CHIEF

The Town of Barrington is accepting applications for a CONFIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO THE BARRINGTON FIRE CHIEF. This position plays a key role in supporting the administrative and financial operations of the Barrington Fire Department and requires a highly organized, detailed-oriented professional to handle sensitive and confidential information.
SCHEDULE
• Monday through Friday
• 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• 20 hours per week
COMPENSATION
• $25.00 per hour
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Gather and compile payroll information for Finance Department personnel.
• Manage all Fire Department accounts payables and accounts receivables.
• Track, monitor, and maintain Fire Department time and attendance records
• Assists with the preparation of the Fire Department Budget
• Screen department incoming phone calls, emails and correspondence
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and required documentation, as needed.
• Provide administrative support to the Fire Chief as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personnel and financial information.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate’s degree preferred
• 3-5 years administrative experience -Municipal fire service experience preferred
• Bookkeeping and/or financial record-keeping experience and Paychex Payroll experience a plus-
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills; ability to multi-task.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) a must.
