    Pleasant View Elementary is seeking a Media Center Specialist.  This is a full time, school year position.

    POSITION SUMMARY:  This position will supervise the media center and organize the media center as a learning space. 

    Essential Functions:

    1. Collection Development (determine book, equipment, supply, and software needs for the media center. This includes meeting with sales reps or location materials in catalogs, preparing the purchase orders, ordering items, receiving items, and tracking backorders).
    2. Submit annual budget proposal for media center.
    3. Submit annual �Disposal of Surplus Equipment' form to Board of Trustees for approval.
    4. Consistent updating of new releases of popular titles/series or requested titles by students and staff.
    5. "Weeding" process of damaged or obsolete media center materials.
    6. Check in/check out material.
    7. Re-shelve and organize book displays.
    8. Coordination and correspondence over lost, damaged, and overdue material.
    9. Submit payments made for lost and damaged materials throughout the school year.
    10. Book repair
    11. Reading book reviews and recommendations to ensure appropriateness and relevance of new books for collection.
    12. Consistent updating of student and staff records in Destiny library software.
    13. Creation and distribution of all students' HMMPL digital library cards
    14. Coordination and correspondence with HMMPL about ecards for students and staff and prospective visits from HMMPL outreach librarian to support our school with their digital memberships.
    15. Coordination and correspondence with HMMPL about summer reading program presentations.
    16. Access, plan, and implement media center improvement projects (simplifying/reorganizing sections/ displays).
    17. Assisting teachers with classroom projects (i.e. book clubs, challenges, wonder projects, etc.)
    18. Attend after school staff meetings, related arts team meetings, and district meetings.
    19. Attend �Back to School Kickoff' days for entire district (as part of the �teacher' schedule; not �IA/Para' schedule) + Professional Development days throughout school year.
    20. Attend �New Family Night', participate in �Meet the Teacher Night', and �Curriculum Night'.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have ability to relate well and communicate effectively with a variety of individuals including students, staff, parents, and classroom volunteers.  Must be able to perform functions of the job with limited supervision and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
