Position Title: Language-Based Classroom Teacher – Grades 3 & 4
Location: Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall Elementary School, Groveland, MA
Reports To: Building Principal and Director of Student Services
Job Goal
The Pentucket Regional School District is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Language-Based Classroom Teacher to work with students in Grades 3 and 4 at Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall Elementary School. This position is responsible for delivering structured, multisensory instruction to students with language-based learning differences, with a focus on strengthening reading, writing, and language skills. The successful candidate will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment while working closely with a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate Massachusetts teaching license or Master’s Degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
- Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities PreK–8 or 1–6) and/or Elementary Education
- Massachusetts SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement required through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Demonstrated experience with language-based instructional approaches (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or similar structured literacy programs) preferred
- Strong knowledge of literacy development and language-based learning disabilities
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Student Services
Work Year: School Year (184 Days)
Salary/Benefits: Consistent with the Negotiated educator salary schedule
Performance Responsibilities
- Provide explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction in literacy and language development
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of learners
- Use student data and progress monitoring to guide instruction and interventions
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special educators, and related service providers
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and compliance requirements
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student growth and progress
- Foster a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and district initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a language-based or substantially separate classroom setting
- Training in structured literacy programs
- Experience with IEP development and implementation
