Job Description

Position Summary
Lexington Middle School is seeking a motivated and responsible Assistant Girls Softball Coach to help support the school’s softball program. The assistant coach will work closely with the head coach to develop student-athletes’ skills, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and provide a positive and safe environment for middle school athletes.


 


Key Responsibilities




  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices and games.




  • Help teach fundamental softball skills including throwing, fielding, hitting, base running, and game strategy.




  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities.




  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and respect among players.




  • Assist with preparing practice plans and drills focused on skill development.




  • Help manage equipment, uniforms, and practice materials.




  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.




  • Follow all school, district, and athletic association rules and policies.




  • Support communication with players and parents regarding expectations and team activities.




  • Assist with game preparation, field setup, and other duties assigned by the head coach or athletic director.




Qualifications




  • Knowledge of softball fundamentals and coaching techniques.




  • Previous playing or coaching experience in softball or baseball preferred.




  • Ability to work effectively with middle school students.




  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.




  • Commitment to building a positive and supportive team culture.




  • Must meet all district requirements for coaching (background check, certifications, etc.).




  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.




Time Commitment




  • Attendance at all scheduled practices and games during the season.




  • Participation in occasional meetings with coaching staff or athletic administration.




Compensation




  • Stipend based on district athletic supplement schedule.
