Class A CDL Driver 


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

 

  • Work: Full Time, 10-12 hours a day- 5 days a week, during Harvest expanded days/hours may be required.

 

LOCATION: Marengo, IL   



Pay: Paid by the load which varies. Averages around $55k-$80k.

Summary Description of CDL Driver

CDL drivers are responsible for operating tractor-trailer equipment and maintain properly to transport material to designated location in a timely manner.

 


Essential Job Functions of CDL Driver

  • Must have valid CDL Class A
  • Safely operate Class A truck to transport material to job site, possibly during Harvest season, driving on uneven or unfinished surface
  • Must be able to climb up to 10 feet on ladders attached to truck or fertilizer tank
  • Daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out
  • Regularly perform Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections on equipment.
  • Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment on the road and in the yard
  • Tarp load when needed, verify gates are closed
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
  • Ability to read maps and navigate to new locations
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and recognize matters needing attention and initiate action on that recognition.
  • Provide Delivery service as required by established delivery standards
  • Interact with customers and managers.
  • Observing speed limits and obeying D.O.T. regulations
  • Keeping driving records
  • Utilizing Samsara equipment, including forward and rear facing cameras in the trucks.


CDL Driver Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, talk, walk and hear.

Requirements

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL and Federal Medical card.
  • ALL applicants must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience driving with a CDL.
