IT INTERN – TECHNICAL WRITER

Job Overview: The IT Intern – Technical Writer will support the Information Technology team by organizing and standardizing IT documentation. This role will primarily focus on reviewing existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and converting them into a consistent documentation template to improve clarity, accessibility, and long-term maintainability. The intern will work with IT team members to ensure procedures are accurately documented and formatted according to established standards. This internship provides valuable experience in technical documentation, process organization, and exposure to enterprise IT operations

The candidate for this position will be responsible for:

  • Review existing IT Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation.
  • Convert current documentation into a standardized IT documentation template.
  • Ensure documentation is clear, consistent, and easy for IT staff to follow.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to verify technical accuracy of procedures.
  • Organize documentation within internal repositories such as knowledge bases, intranet pages, or shared documentation platforms.
  • Assist with minor edits, formatting improvements, and version control of IT documentation.
  • Support additional documentation needs for IT projects and process improvements as assigned.

Requirements for the position include:

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Strong written communication and editing skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow formatting standards and templates consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple documents at once.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams).
