    Description: Paraprofessional, Special Education

    Job Summary: Assists the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.

    Qualifications: 
    Education and/or Experience: High school graduate or equivalent; 60 hours or more toward a college degree or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment; reliable, ability to meet and work effectively with others; experience in working with children; high energy level; ability to deal patiently and empathetically with young children; knowledge of early childhood development.

    Language Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to write reports, business correspondance and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.

    Technology: Proficiency with computer applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Be able to understand and submit electronic reports to local, state, and federal agencies. Have the ability to learn new systems and software.
