About the Department
Counselors in Training (C.I.T) are assigned to supervise children enrolled in summer camps while at any of Parks and Recreation facilities. Volunteers assist group coordinators and counselors with supervision of children during planned activities, games, field trips, arts & crafts, special events, and field trips.
Counselors in Training are under the direct supervision of the Recreation Specialist, Program Assistants and /or the Youth Center Manager and Supervisor.

Position Duties
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Assist with delivering or retrieving children from their groups and accompanying them to meet a counselor or coordinator.
Assist with the transport and collection of lunch boxes, sport and game equipment, and board games to/from locations where they will be used.
Accompany a limited number of children to the restroom or office.
Assist and accompany groups on field trips.
Motivate and encourage children and participate in activities.
Assist with maintenance and cleaning of the facility and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 15 years of age.
Previous experience working with children in a summer camp setting is preferred.
