Position Summary:

The Summer Camp Counselor position offers an exciting opportunity for energetic, responsible individuals to contribute to a vibrant, child-centered summer camp environment. At Bennett Day Camp, camp counselors bring enthusiasm, flexibility, and creativity to their daily work with children, supporting a fun, safe, and engaging experience while contributing positively to the broader camp community. The Athletics Camp Counselor leads and supports physical activity, sports, and movement-based programming throughout the camp day. This role is ideal for students with backgrounds in athletics, coaching, fitness, or physical education who enjoy working with kids in active environments.


Requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • Collaborative mindset; adept at working with teams and open to new ideas
  • Prior experience working with children in group settings (camp, childcare, babysitting, education, etc.)
  • High energy, patience, and enthusiasm
  • Strong communication and teamwork skill
  • Adaptability and a positive, flexible attitude
  • Interest in supporting a fun, inclusive camp community
  • Background or interest in coaching, athletics, fitness, or physical education
  • Ability to confidently lead group games and activities
  • Positive attitude and commitment to inclusive play

Job Requirements:

  • Physical strength to independently lift 15-20 lbs
  • Fluency in written and oral language in English
  • Ability to oversee and ensure the safety of children in and out of the classroom

Job Specifications:

  • Supervision and engagement of campers throughout the day
  • Leading and supporting age-appropriate Athletic activities and projects
  • Encouraging resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving
  • Supporting daily transitions, including arrival, snack, lunch, and dismissal
  • Maintaining a safe and encouraging  environment
  • Participation in staff training and team meetings
  • Responsibilities are not all-inclusive and will include other duties as assigned
