    The EL Program Specialist is to provide professional development to support teachers and administrators with understanding and implementation of the LDA, SEI models and associated practices for EL instruction. 

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Masters Degree in Teaching English As A Second Language or a related field required. Valid Arizona English As A Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual Endorsement preferred Five years successful experience teaching English Language programs preferred 

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. 

    • Knowledge and experience in Scientifically Based Research (SBR) instructional strategies and programs 

    • Knowledge of blended learning models, preferred 

    • Experience using a variety of technological tools, preferred 

    • Ability to work collaboratively with all staff 

    • Experience in successful school turnaround efforts, preferred 

    • Experience in Data Analytics, preferred 

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Provide professional development and training for staff on effective strategies for EL development. 

    • Provide assistance to teachers and administrators in analysing and interpreting EL student data. 

    • Monitor the progress students in the EL Program are making on the AZELLA and other State Assessments to support classroom instructional practices. 

    • Develop a plan for increasing the English language proficiency of all students in the EL Program as measured by the AZELLA. 

    • Support classroom teachers in the implementation of EL Best Practices Strategies. Assist teachers in lesson planning, data analysis, flexible grouping and implementation of the LDA, ELP standards for classroom instruction. 

    • Provide training for teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators in the area of EL strategies, technology tools, and state compliance issues. 

    • Strategize with principals on how to implement effective curriculum and instructional services for English Language programs. 

    • Coaches staff members in effective EL instruction 

    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the department supervisor. 

     

    REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Teaching and Learning 

     

    SALARY: 3-OC Other Certified Salary Schedule 

     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 months
