Application Helpdesk Technician

 
The Utah State Board of Education
is seeking applicants for a technical support specialist vacancy. USBE is seeking
a specialist responsible for providing external customer support,
troubleshooting, and processing system requests.  This includes providing customer support for purchased
customer-centric applications and applications developed and hosted by the Utah
State Board of Education. This is a hybrid position and requires two days in our SLC office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage user accounts and aid with various agency-built software applications.
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting systems and account issues.
  • Ask questions and get information to diagnose problems and discern what level of support is needed when a problem is presented.
  • Act as a resource for managing, responding to, and assigning IT help desk tickets and issues.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation for agency policies and procedures.
  • Manage workflow through internal ticketing systems.
  • Support user software needs via telephone and remote connection/access tools.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in an IT-related field
  • 2+ years of IT experience with at least 1 year of client support experience
  • Hands-on experience with education systems (e.g., student information systems, etc.)
  • Microsoft, Google, CompTIA and/or other IT-related certifications
  • Able to recognize forward-looking business needs along with education, business, and IT trends
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong prioritization skills – organized and efficient
  • Communicating in language that non-tech people can understand
  • Ability to manage relationships while demonstrating persistence and problem-solving
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing situations
  • Experience in Agile/Kanban teams is a plus

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Work requires physical exertion.
  • May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check required
