Job Description

JOB TITLE: Social Impact Graduate Assistant
LOCATION: St. Paul Campus
PAY RATE: $16.50/Hour
HOURS: 15-20 Hours/Week

 

Overview

The Social Impact team provides opportunities to empower students, faculty and staff at the University of St. Thomas to become morally responsible leaders who think critically, act wisely and work skillfully to advance the common good through community engagement both locally and globally. The Social Impact team is part of the Tommies Together Volunteer Center (TTVC) within the Center for the Common Good. The Center for the Common Good works with units across the institution and with Twin Cities community partners to advance the common good and elevate student learning and engagement.  The Social Impact programs include VISION, HEAL, and CEVEA (which includes the Global Justice Movement). 

 

 

 

Position Description & Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assist Program Director with logistical tasks and programming related to all Social Impact programs 
  • Engage with Social Impact undergrad interns by offering guidance, mentorship, and support with the implementation of programs and events 
  • Contribute to CCG communications outputs, including but not limited to writing articles for the Newsroom, gathering content for monthly newsletters, creating social media posts, etc. 
  • Support with promotion of and recruitment for Social Impact programs across campus by speaking to classes, assisting with events, and engaging with the community  
  • Serve as a backup driver to help transport students to volunteer sites in Center for the Common Good vehicles as well as support with routine upkeep of the Center vehicles 
  • Assist the Center for the Common Good with administrative and simple budget operations such as submitting student reimbursements, driver authorizations, managing volunteer hours, reserving spaces on 25Live, submitting room layouts via SocialTables, etc.  
  • Create digital posters and other marketing materials to promote events and engagement opportunities 
  • Provide excellent customer service to our students, faculty, staff, and community leaders 
  • Abide by all University policies and procedures 
  • Support Center for the Common Good staff with other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Candidate must be a degree-seeking student in a St. Thomas graduate program 
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving standard size university vehicles (5 to 7 passengers) 
  • Candidate must be or be willing to become an approved driver through UST 
  • Candidate must have availability for 15 to 20 hours per week

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior volunteer and/or event planning experience 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other creative platforms (Canva, etc.) 
  • A passion for organization and community engagement  

 

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
