Job Description

Job Summary
The Summer Technology Intern supports the Technology Department during the summer months by assisting with the preparation, processing, inventory, and organization of student devices for the upcoming school year. This position provides hands-on experience in a K–12 technology environment while helping ensure devices are cleaned, updated, labeled, and ready for student use.


Essential Functions


Device Preparation, Maintenance, and Inventory



  • Unbox, label, and catalog incoming hardware and technology equipment.

  • Process student devices for summer turnaround and back-to-school deployment.

  • Install updates and standard software on assigned devices.

  • Assist with basic device setup and verify devices are functioning properly.

  • Clean, sanitize, and organize devices before deployment or storage.

  • Apply asset tags, labels, and other identifying information as needed.

  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset records.


Organization and Department Support



  • Organize and maintain storage areas, workspaces, and device carts.

  • Prepare devices and accessories for transport or delivery to school sites.

  • Assist with collection, sorting, and staging of returned student devices.

  • Support the Technology Department with general summer projects as assigned.

  • Work cooperatively with technology staff to complete assigned tasks in an efficient and professional manner.


Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Basic familiarity with Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS devices.

  • Comfortable using Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow directions and complete repetitive tasks accurately.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment up to 50 pounds.

  • Reliable transportation to and between district locations as needed.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Interest in technology, computer hardware, or IT support.

  • Prior experience working with computers, devices, or school technology is helpful but not required.


Work Schedule



  • Temporary, part-time summer position.

  • Hours and schedule to be determined based on departmental needs.


Physical Demands



  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.

  • Ability to move boxes, carts, and technology equipment safely.
