Are you a financial reporting leader with Public Company or Accounting Firm experience? Do you have strong ASPE compliance and MD&A preparation expertise? We are hiring a Financial Reporting Manager for our Calgary head office. As a key member of the Finance leadership team, you will lead the preparation of the company’s financial statements and MD&A, conduct technical accounting research, and develop key documentation such as impairment assessments. You will play a vital role in ensuring ASPE compliance and high‑quality reporting, while guiding and developing a growing team to strengthen our financial reporting function.

What you will be doing

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with ASPE and internal reporting guidelines
  • Draft MD&A, highlighting key financial metrics, trends, and business performance drivers
  • Compile and present monthly financial reporting and analysis for the Board of Directors and Ownership, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and actionable insight
  • Lead the month end close process, including account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting and reporting, maintaining accurate records throughout the asset lifecycle
  • Coordinate the preparation of audit ready financial documents, working closely with external auditors and internal partners to facilitate smooth audits
  • Prepare impairment memos and related analyses, collaborating with operations teams and supporting external audit requirements
  • Conduct technical accounting research and provide recommendations on complex financial reporting matters, ensuring alignment with evolving standards
  • Support budgeting and forecasting by compiling data, analyzing variances, and producing monthly budget to actual comparisons
  • Develop and document financial policies and processes, ensuring alignment between reporting requirements and operational practices
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes to enhance data accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure consistency in financial data, reporting, and reconciliations
  • Mentor and support the professional development of finance team members, contributing to a high-performance reporting function

 What we would like from you

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required – must be active and in good standing
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in financial reporting, accounting, or auditing, with a strong track record in preparing and reviewing financial statements
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • In-depth understanding of ASPE, including proven ability to research, interpret, and document new accounting guidance and complex accounting issues
  • Previous experience working in a financial reporting role for a Public Company or an Accounting Firm environment
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Proficiency with Oracle and SmartView is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

 Location and other key details:

  • This is a full-time permanent position based out of our Calgary Corporate Office
  • The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with occasional additional hours as required
