Job Summary
The purpose of the Special Education Instructional Assistant - Roving is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the supervision and
instruction of special needs students under the supervision of a site or district administrator and under the direction of a certificated
teacher, behaviorist or an administrator of Special Education, in a variety of special education settings; on an as needed basis pending
program and student needs. Schedule, work location and assignment are flexible pending daily program needs and direction from an
administrator/designee of Special Education.

Required Documents
Experience working with students with moderate/severe disabilities is highly desirable; high school diploma, NCLB exam or A.A. degree or 48 semester units, preferably including or supplemented by courses in psychology, child growth and development, or a closely related field; possession of basic first aid and CPR certification at time of hire. The following on- going training may be provided by the District as circumstances allow: (e.g. crisis prevention intervention; de-escalation strategies; medical device; medical assistant training).
