Job Description

General Summary:



Assists the baker in the preparation of all baked goods according to the club’s standard recipes.





Responsibilities and Duties:




  1. Supervisor Responsibilities

    • None



  2. Primary Duties

    • Opens bakery; lights ovens, if necessary; collects needed ingredients. 

    • Schedules daily production in Baker’s absence. 

    • Cleans and sanitizes work and storage areas. 

    • Prepares baked goods according to club’s standard recipes.

    • Maintains and breaks down Baker’s station. 

    • Notifies baker in advance of expected product shortages. 

    • Ensures that assigned work station and equipment are clean and sanitary. 

    • Requisitions supplies as needed to prepare menu items. 

    • Covers, dates and neatly stores all reusable leftover products. 

    • Makes recommendations for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of the bakery area and equipment. 

    • Attends staff meetings. 

    • Assists Baker in the completion of other duties as assigned. 







Skills and Abilities Required:




  1. Must be able to safely operate food production equipment, including: large-capacity mixer, ice cream machine, convection oven, pizza oven, proofer, robo-coupe or other food processor, 40-gallon steam kettle and steam cabinet.

  2. Attention to detail, knowledge of ingredients and an aesthetic/artistic eye.

  3. Adheres to state and local health and safety standards.

  4. Maintains safety and security in work area.

  5. Maintains the highest sanitary standards.

  6. Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations





Certification/Education and Experience:




  1. High School graduate or GED. 

  2. One year of experience as a baker in a retail, club, hotel, restaurant or institutional setting is preferred. 





Working Condition:




  1. There is a potential for stressful situations and for long hours.

  2. Constantly works in hot, humid, and noisy environment conditions.





Physical Requirements:




  1. Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach. 

  2. The person in this position frequently communicates with managers and colleagues regarding food orders, workstation, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  3. Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

  4. Frequently positions self to complete assigned tasks.
