Job Description
Summary:
The Associate Project Engineer position is responsible for supporting the full OEM development cycle of automotive brake subsystems and components. This role works under the guidance of senior engineering staff and collaborates with internal teams, manufacturing, and global counterparts to assist as a technical interface for assigned programs. The role supports customer satisfaction by assisting with the coordination of engineering activities, program timing, and technical communications to meet performance requirements and quality initiatives.
 
Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Engineering Support
  • Coordinate communications with plants, purchasing, and product development teams under supervision.
  • Participate in engineering technical meetings and design reviews.
  • Prepare meeting minutes and follow-up documentation for all assigned project meetings.
  • Support the scheduling and priority-setting for subsystem and component testing evaluation activities, with occasional support for procurement of components.
  • Monitor and track engineering changes, technical risks, and associated cost and timing impacts.
  • Perform other special projects, tasks, or duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Project & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Support cross-functional team activities (Design, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, etc.) and establish engineering priorities.
  • Develop, set up, and maintain project timing plans by coordinating schedules and deliverables with all departments involved.
  • Follow up and maintain timelines through regular progress checks with engineering teams, manufacturing plants, quality groups, suppliers, and customers.
  • Develop and maintain open issue lists for meetings with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Provide basic technical support to sales and product teams during quoting, business development, and assigned customer activities.
  • Support with planning and coordination of supplier launch preparation activities
  • Prepare regular reports for management on all customer activities.
Team Collaboration and Development Support
  • Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture
  • Participate in cross-functional training, continuous improvement, and safety activities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • Office, test lab, and occasional travel to customer sites or manufacturing locations.
  • Hybrid work flexibility based on business needs and project timelines.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (e.g., test equipment, prototype components).
Equipment and Supporting Services:
  • Basic Equipment needed is laptop, smartphone, business cards, security badge.
Desired qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME, MSME) with a minimum of 0-2 years of automotive design and testing experience.
Minimum Qualifications: 
A minimum of 3 years’ professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Experience with project management, design, development, and validation of foundation brake components.
