What you'll do:
Farm planning & consulting
- Develop and present customized Farm Plans focused on improving crop production efficiency and profitability
- Analyze past product performance, seed selection, fertility practices, crop methods, and grower challenges to forecast outcomes
- Make recommendations on seed type, crop rotations, fertilizer, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides
- Conduct ongoing in-field analysis and communicate findings clearly to producers
- Address and resolve potential misapplication or underperformance issues with growers
Sales & customer growth
- Finalize sales of the whole-farm philosophy including products and services
- Grow and maintain the agronomy customer base; maintain field presence from planting through harvest
- Promote cooperative business and marketing plans set forth by the VP of Agronomy
- Proactively implement prepayment plans for seed, fertilizer, chemicals, and services; coordinate with accounting to finalize billing arrangements
- Resolve billing or contractual disputes as needed
Operations & logistics
- Assist in planning logistics to move products and services from vendor to locations or custom farmgate
- Develop accurate field boundaries and create work orders using specialized software reflecting products, totals, field instructions, and billing
- Coordinate with dispatchers, operations, and accounting to ensure timely and accurate product application
- Collaborate with AG Advisors and Location Managers to coordinate services, equipment, spray orders, and staff=
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or related field, or minimum 3 years of agronomy/agronomy sales experience
- Knowledge of soil fertility, fertilizer and chemical properties, seed traits, crop life cycles, and agricultural chemistry
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, internet-based programs, and agronomy software
- Ability to operate company vehicles, forklifts, skid-loaders, blending systems, and hand tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to speak effectively one-on-one and in group settings
- Basic math skills including algebra, geometry, proportions, percentages, and volume
- Preferred: CDL Class B with HazMat and Tanker endorsements, forklift certification, and current CCA license
- Ability to travel within the trade territory
